Laptop keyboard disabled windows 7

You can reach Keyboards by opening Device Manager and going to the left side. When you see a shortcut for on-screen, press enter. On-screen keyboards can be set by flipping the first switch at the top. By right clicking the Windows icon on your mouse, you can access the Windows menu. Unfortunately this is the first thing I tried and it didn't do anything. My model is HP Spectre x Convertible ae0xx. I then did it again and did a windows update, again with no result.

Hi Andre, see above responses I have already tried. There is no enable option on my keyboard in device manager, only update driver or uninstall device and I have tried both, with no result. I can't hit window and A as I have no keyboard, only concern, but I checked whether I'm in tablet mode at the bottom of the notification screen toggling it on and off, with no change to the keyboard.

Newbie Windows 10 user. Hi everybody I was wondering whether somebody can help me? Can anybody help me with the correct way to re-enable the keyboard in windows 10 please? Thanks Lynda. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.

I have the same question As in some laptop models, the keyboard and mouse share the same software drivers so they both can stop working together. Head over to the Start menu and type Device Manager in the search field. Now open the Device Manager and find the Keyboards option among other devices.

As you find it, click on the arrow to access more options. Next, you will probably see two or more keyboards listed in the options. You can right-click on it and select Uninstall to disable the keyboard temporarily. With this, your keyboard is disabled until the next time you restart your computer. When you restart your PC the keyboard drivers are reinstalled automatically and your keyboard shall work as usual. If you want to permanently disable the keyboard then this method is not for you.

However, you can follow the steps shown in the below method to permanently get rid of the keyboard of your laptop. To stop Windows from automatically reinstalling the driver, see Method 1 of the Permanently disable keyboard section. Once this is done, follow Method 1 at the top of this post.

This method works because it stops your Windows from automatically reinstalling your disabled driver when you restart. The best solution for Mac users is to use KeyboardCleaner , a third party app available for Mac that allows you to disable and reenable your keyboard whenever you need to. Hopefully you can make use of this well made app when your keyboard goes on the fritz.

This method only partially disables the keyboard, leaving some keys enabled so you can use the mouse.
