We will then tap and hold the 'Lock' icon while swiping upwards to unlock the device. From the home screen, we are going to want to access the 'Settings' option.
Here we will tap the 'Settings' icon. We can then tap the 'Recent Applications' folder and close the application. We then press the 'Home' icon to return back home. Alternatively we can enter the 'Settings' folder by swiping down from the top edge of the phone. We will then tap the icon on the upper right corner of the screen to open the 'Notifications' area.
This will bring up a set of Windows, from here we will tap the 'Settings' panel. This will bring us to the same place we were earlier when we used the first method of accessing the 'Settings' menu.
Scroll to the bottom of the menu. Tap the 'Software updates' option located first on the new list. The phone will now begin checking for software updates. The phone being shown currently has the option 'Update over WiFi only' checked.
We can now see that the phone has notified us that it is up to date, there are no updates available for the phone. If you would like you can also tap on the option marked as 'Auto-download system updates', or the option marked 'Auto-update apps' to fit your needs.
If one of these options is checked, but you believe there is an update the phone has not notified you of, you may tap the 'Check now' button and the phone will begin checking for updates.
